A research permit application is to be submitted at the same time as the application for research ethical clearance. If the research ethical clearance is approved, research permit will be issued along with decision letter regarding ethical clearance given that the foreign entity is not on research permit blacklist

Research permit is required for foreign parties who will conduct research in Indonesia. Foreign parties refer to foreign research institutions and/or foreigners. If you or your research team members are foreigners, you need to apply for research permit before conducting your research in Indonesia

The application for research ethical clearance can be made by accessing https://klirensetik.brin.go.id/ . Applicant shall log in with SSO BRIN account. If the applicant does not have SSO BRIN account, they can register to get their SSO BRIN account through the ethical clearance website. After logging in, applicant can proceed with the application for research ethical clearance

The application for research ethical clearance must be made before the research commences

From the start of the application to the issuance of research ethical clearance decision letter, it takes a maximum of 20 (twenty) working days provided that all document is complete and there is no recommendations for revision from the Ethical Commission meeting
